[Protective-competitive] Tsubasa ONE - Bogu Set

Tsubasa Brand is a line of innovative Kendo Bogu models made in Japan, to the customer size. It requires not only good materials and skillfully artisans to craft these original gears, but also the expert work of designing which comes from the combination of Kendo and Kendogu knowledge and the proper method of making Bogu and its materials, without forgetting the customer's budget.

Nowadays is easy to find affordable options which are good enough to practice Kendo, and we offer this kind of products too (beginners and entry level models). However, for those who want to invest a little more on something we think is on a higher level, while supporting the professionals behind each design and artisans behind each stitch, we cannot recommend it enough!

Tsubasa Budogu's NEW concept: Yoroi-Jissengata (Protective-Competitive type)
Combining the excellent protection of our Tsubasa brand series Futon and stitching type, with a flexible Kotegashira for better range of movement and comfortable grip, and a new overall design for better comfort, we are introducing a new Bogu concept which mixes the main features of a Jissen-gata or competition focused type with a Yoroi-gata or protective-training type.

TSUBASA ONE is made in Kontan (Aizome cotton fabric) with main reinforcements in Orizashi (thick woven cotton fabric) and Kongawa (Aizome deerskin) for its elasticity and luxury appearance. The hit area of the Men and Kote is made sturdy and thick, with bumpy wave-pattern stitch for improved protection. The Kotegashira (which includes the fist and wrist areas) is made light and flexible for a better grip sensation, and the back of the Men and Obi of the Tare are reinforced with an extra layer of synthetic leather.

* Product details: 9-3-3mm wave stitch, with diamond stitching on the hit areas. The overall reinforcements are Orizashi, Kongawa and synthetic leather. The Tenouchi or Kote-palms are made with black Ultrasuede. The default Mengane is IBB Duralumin and Uchiwa (inner ring) is made of TORAY water-absorbent & quick-dry FIELDSENSOR fiber. The Men and Tare features our Tsubasa brand original Futon cut and Kazari, as well as a new Ago-Kazari which can be customized on the options. The default Do (on the pictures) has a Gyukongawa (Navy cowhide leather) Mune with Kanto-Matsu Kazari and Nanamezashi (diagonal stitch) with a Wari-Kiku pattern as Shokko. Select the Dodai you prefer in the options!

* TSUBASA ONE in a nutshell: Unique appearance. Flexible yet protective, and thanks to its materials distribution is sturdy but easy to maintain.

* This is a multipurpose model, but most recommended for competition and training.

* Standard maintenance procedures: After each use, just spray some water on the Futon (fabric area, not the leather) where sweat concentrated the most, and let the Futon dry before the next use. Also in case of deer leather Tenouchi (palms), stretch them after being used so they don't dry having wrinkles on the surface, which could lead to holes. In case of dry weather, it is recomended to spray water droplets before using the gear, only on the futon area, and apply (and let dry before use) Mink Oil or Leather Cream on the palms one time per 2 weeks or when you feel it's necessary. (!) Do not expose the Bogu to direct sunlight for prolongated time. (!) If you wash your Bogu parts, avoid submerging it or directly watering the Menbuchi (the outer ring made of black lacquered leather, where the Mengane or metal cage is connected to the Futon). And remember, after being used (accumulating sweat), a very dry Bogu in dry weather will lose its fabric-elasticity, particularly those parts made with cotton or leather, becoming more prone to break apart.
