[Custom Type] Tsubasa KENRYU - Tare

Tsubasa Brand is a line of innovative Kendo Bogu models made in Japan, to the customer size. It requires not only good materials and skillfull artisans to craft these original gears, but also the expert work of designing which comes from the combination of Kendo and Kendogu knowledge such as the proper method of making Bogu and its materials, without forgetting the customer's budget.

Nowadays is easy to find affordable options which are good enough to practice Kendo, and we offer this kind of products too (beginners and entry level models). However, for those wanting to invest on a higher level craft, while supporting the professionals behind each design and artisans behind each stitch, we cannot recommend it enough!

TSUBASA KENRYU As its name 堅流 "Hardness & flow" implies, it's an adaptive design. This model can be customized to be more suitable for training (protection), competition (light & flexible) or a mixed type (flexible & protective). In essence, the default model (the mixed version) is made in Kontan (Aizome cotton fabric) with the main reinforcements in Orizashi (thick woven cotton fabric) and borders in Kongawa (Aizome deerskin) for its elasticity and luxury appearance. The hit area of the Men and Kote are made sturdy and thick, with bumpy wave-pattern stitch for improved protection. The Kotegashira (which includes the fist and wrist areas) is made light and flexible for a better grip sensation, and some parts of the Kote, Men and Tare are reinforced with an extra layer of Indenfu leather (Tonbo or Sakura motifs).

* Product details: 10-2-2-2mm wave stitching. The overall reinforcements are stitched Orizashi, Kongawa borders and Indenfu leather (Tonbo, Sakura or Aizome deerskin). The Tare features Inden decorative reinforcements on areas of friction in the Obi and corners of each Odare. The main materials and decorative reinforcements patterns/colors can be customized as well as the model type.

* TSUBASA KENRYU in a nutshell: Customizable Bogu-type with unique appearance. Overall flexible and protective, sturdy on the hit areas yet comfortable and easy to maintain.

* This is a custom-type model: Competition (recommended for Shiai), Training (recommended for Keiko) or mixed-type (recommended as a multi-purpose type, for experienced Kenshi).

* Standard maintenance procedures: After each use, just spray some water on the Futon (fabric area, not the leather) where sweat concentrated the most, and let the Futon dry before the next use. Also in case of deer leather Tenouchi (palms), stretch them after being used so they don't dry having wrinkles on the surface, which could lead to holes. In case of dry weather, it is recomended to spray water droplets before using the gear, only on the futon area, and apply (and let dry before use) Mink Oil or Leather Cream on the palms one time per 2 weeks or when you feel it's necessary. (!) Do not expose the Bogu to direct sunlight for prolongated time. (!) If you wash your Bogu parts, avoid submerging it or directly watering the Menbuchi (the outer ring made of black lacquered leather, where the Mengane or metal cage is connected to the Futon). And remember, after being used (accumulating sweat), a very dry Bogu in dry weather will lose its fabric-elasticity, particularly those parts made with cotton or leather, becoming more prone to break apart.
